Pastor Merrick Carter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of twelve. He has been active in the church all of his life. Pastor Carter has a genuine love for people and a heart to see people accept Christ as their Savior. He seeks to train others in the scriptures so that they may serve God in a mighty way.
Pastor Carter served eight years in the United States Marine Corps. During that time he had the opportunity to see and live in different parts of the world. After serving in the military, he felt led by the Holy Spirit to prepare himself to preach the gospel.
Pastor Carter attended Golden Grain Bible College & Seminary and received his BA and Masters in Theology, as well a Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology. He served as the Southern California Divisional Evangelical Evangelist for The Salvation Army at Divisional Headquarters in Southern, CA. This entailed ministering and preaching the gospel in different parts of the country.
Pastor Carter has worked with organizations such as Teen Challenge and the Ventura and Santa Barbara Rescue Missions. Pastor Carter serves as the Police Chaplain for the Port Hueneme Police Department. He is also the Character Development Coach for the Ventura College Football team. Having served as a pastor for over thirty years, he knows the needs of people and seeks to meet those needs both from the pulpit and on an individual basis. With his educational background and life experience, he is equipped to deal with people and their challenges from a biblical perspective. Pastor Carter has a lovely wife Arline, three beautiful daughters and eight wonderful grandchildren.
